The Ministry of Culture and Tourism Authority of Panama recognized four outstanding personalities for their significant contribution to strengthening and preserving Panamanian traditions, ahead of the "Thousand Polleras Parade".

During an emotional ceremony marking the prelude to the "Thousand Polleras Parade 2026", the Ministry of Culture and the Tourism Authority of Panama recognized four outstanding personalities: Bella Herminda "Minda" Gonzalez de Cedeño, Balbino Gómez, Carolina Alonso, and Lucrecio "Yejo" Cedeño, "Bearers of the Living Cultural Heritage of the Nation". This tribute is awarded under the distinction "Stars of Panamanian Folklore 2026" in recognition of exemplary figures from the world of craftsmanship, typical music, composition, and the tamborito dance, who through their talent, career, and commitment, have significantly contributed to strengthening, transmitting, and preserving Panamanian traditions. Minister Herrera accepted the distinction with emotion, saying she carries the flag with humility and pride as a testament to a country that recognizes in its culture a path of encounter, joy, and peace, opening its doors to the world with respect and national pride.
